Vehicle Monitoring System
Project deliverables - Project will provide features like geo-fencing and over-speed limit constraint, integrated in an Android application and panic/emergency button implementation.
Boundary - In vehicle monitoring, we are restricting ourselves to monitor location, speed, and health of the vehicle.
Strategy - Firstly, we will implement panic/emergency button and then develop the android application with features like geo-fencing and over-speed limitation.
Challenges - Using wheel speed sensor or vehicle speed sensor is not feasible due to budget limitation, therefore we are using GPS module to measure speed. At this point of time monitoring the health of driver is beyond the scope of the project.
Assumptions - We believe ERT`s would respond to the message asap when received. We also assume that the geographical location and speed measured by the GPS module is in acceptance range. Raspberry pi is always connected to Internet.
Future Scope - Future work would include driver health monitoring like monitoring heart-beat, pulse, sleeping and alcohol detection. To have a smooth and safe driving experience during damp, wet, icy conditions we can deploy road weather and surface condition sensors which would monitor the atmospheric conditions near roadways, as well as actual road-surface conditions.
